Baby Hat with Shell Edging and Rosette

This hat is part of a matching set for my best friend, Erin's second child due on May 9.

For materials, I used a size "G" crochet hook and some unique yarn from a local store.

Using both colors of yarn at once, I followed the large premie hat pattern from Linda's Crochet Corner until I reached 40 stitches around.  From there, I decided to wing it!  I crocheted 4 or 5 rows of double-crochet stitches followed by a small shell edging found on How to Crochet.

To finish, I crocheted a medium rosette following a pattern by Lion Brand Yarn and then attached it to the hat.  The hat measures about 5 inches tall and 13 inches around.

This matching hat and blanket set are adorable-- I'm excited to see Erin's baby wrapped up in them.

Happy hooking,
Jilliane

Update:  Brynn Ann was born on April 20th!
